Ex-Liverpool defender Jose Enrique wants his former club to table an offer for Leicester’s Youri Tielemans when the transfer window reopens in January.

The midfielder, who has been capped 55 times by Belgium, will have only six months remaining on his contract with the Foxes in the New Year and, writing on his Instagram account, Enrique said that he’d be an excellent addition for the Reds:

“This is the player we should sign in January.”

Tielemans’ future has taken up a lot of column inches in newspaper articles over the past year, but Arsenal have always been rated as favourites to sign the player.

However, a number of reports recently have suggested that the Gunners may only look to snap up the 25-year-old if he becomes available on a free transfer next summer.

If, as Enrique suggests, Liverpool do decide to make a bid for Tielemans before then, they could steal a march on their rivals and secure the midfielder’s signature instead.
