Liverpool V Chelsea: European Super Cup Match Preview And Betting Odds

Liverpool will head into tomorrow night’s match against Chelsea in the European Super Cup as heavy favourites following the two sides’ respective results at the weekend.

The Reds kicked off their Premier League campaign with a comfortable home win against newly-promoted Norwich, but the Blues were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat to Manchester United.

The scoreline at Old Trafford doesn’t tell the whole story. United keeper David De Gea had to make seven saves and Chelsea hit the woodwork twice. With Liverpool’s defence looking decidedly shaky versus the Canaries, Jurgen Klopp’s side will need to be wary.

In terms of team news, Liverpool have two players ruled out for the game. Alisson sustained a calf injury against Norwich and won’t return to action for a few weeks. Adrian will, therefore, start in goal, with new recruit Andy Lonergan likely to be on the bench.

Nathaniel Clyne is out for six months with an ACL injury so Ki-Jana Hoever has been named in the squad that flew out to Istanbul. Youngster Harvey Elliott has also been included.

Hoever

There is no place for Dejan Lovren with reports heavily linking the Croatian international with a switch to Italy.

The bookmakers have made Liverpool the favourites heading into the game. The Reds are 8/13 to win at Betway, with a draw after 90 minutes 16/5 with BetVictor. A Chelsea victory is 5/1 at Bet365.
