Former Liverpool fan-favourite Jose Enrique has given his views on how the game between Liverpool and Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup will go – and he’s predicting a big win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Enrique thinks that his old team will sweep aside their greatest rivals by a wide scoreline of 5-0 – despite reinforcing his belief that it will be a ‘difficult game’ for the Reds.
He noted United’s struggles at home in recent months, saying they look ‘better’ when they play away. Additionally, he also cited Liverpool’s free-scoring abilities – they have scored an impressive 65 goals in the Premier League so far this season.
Enrique played for Liverpool between the years of 2011 and 2016, featuring in 76 games and scoring two goals along the way. As well as this, the Spaniard spent time at clubs such as Newcastle United, Real Zaragoza and Valencia.
What did Jose Enrique say regarding Liverpool vs Manchester United?
Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, Enrique said: “I don’t fancy Manchester United to get a result on Sunday. Obviously when I was at Liverpool I didn’t get to experience them being this superior to Manchester United – it was more of a 50/50 when I played and sometimes United were the better team. This is still a difficult game for Liverpool, but I really think they are going to win.
“Manchester United are actually playing worse at Old Trafford than when they play away from home – it’s not the same as it used to be when I was playing. I’d love Liverpool to pick up a really big win here – I’m going to go with 5-0 to them. They’re scoring so many goals at the moment and their attack is as good as it has been all season. I’d love a big result like that – firstly for Liverpool but also for Jurgen Klopp.”
