Liverpool enter the North West Derby as big favourites to pick up the three points, with Manchester United in indifferent form and having played an FA Cup third-round replay midweek.

Even so, with wins at the Etihad and Stamford Bridge already under their belt this season, Ole Gunnar Solkjaer’s team can be dangerous when in the right mood.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will, though, be able to welcome back Fabinho who started training with the first-team squad again this week after being sidelined with an ankle injury since late November.

Joel Matip (knee) is also back in training while Dejan Lovren (thigh) is on the comeback trail. Naby Keita (groin), James Milner (thigh) and Nathaniel Clyne (knee) are still out of contention.

United, meanwhile, are sweating over the fitness of Marcus Rashford who picked up a back problem against Wolves on Wednesday night. Luke Shaw (hamstring), Scott McTominay (knee), Paul Pogba (ankle), Axel Tuanzebe (hamstring) and Marcos Rojo have all been ruled out. Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are unlikely to feature as they are still building up fitness following serious knee injuries.

The bookmakers have made Liverpool the firm favourites with Sky Bet pricing them at 2/5 for the win. A draw is 17/4 with Bet 365 while a victory for United is currently 8/1 at BetVictor.
