Liverpool V Manchester United Match Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

Both Liverpool and Manchester United will head into the match on Sunday with injury problems.

The Merseyside club could have up to seven players missing while United may have as many as nine absentees.

Jurgen Klopp’s side’s biggest problems are at the back. Joe Gomez (fractured leg) and Joel Matip (broken collarbone) are both out for six weeks leaving Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk as the one only two fit centre halves.

The Reds also have issues at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold picking up a foot injury which makes him a doubt for the weekend. Nathaniel Clyne is still carrying a knock and is not likely to feature either.

James Milner should be fit, though, after having to be substituted against Napoli because of cramp, and Dominic Solanke is close to a return following a groin strain. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains out with a knee injury.

For United, Jose Mourinho has the same injury issues defensively. Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Diogo Dalot, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw are doubts due to knocks, while Victor Lindelof is still out with a hamstring injury.

Scott McTominay travelled for the Valencia game but got injured in training, while Anthony Martial is still struggling to recover from a hamstring problem. Alexis Sanchez is also out until the New Year with a similar issue.

It means both managers will be heading into the clash on Sunday evening with threadbare squads. Liverpool are favourites with the bookies, with the Reds 6/10 odds-on at Betfair. A draw is 13/4 at 188BET while a United victory is 11/2 at William Hill.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face United:

Alisson, Milner, Lovren, van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Keita, Salah, Firmino, Mane

United’s Predicted XI:

De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Young, Herrera, Matic, Fellaini, Lingard, Lukaku, Rashford

Predicted Score – 1-0 to Liverpool
