Liverpool V Napoli: Champions League Preview

Liverpool head into their clash with Napoli on Wednesday night knowing full well that a win will seal top spot in their Champions League group.

A lot has happened since Napoli and Liverpool last met back in September when Carlo Ancelotti’s side got the better of the Reds. The Partenopei are in crisis with president Aurelio De Laurentiis having threatened to sell his entire squad after the players refused to go on a training camp he organised.

The Serie A side, therefore, come to Anfield in disarray and the Champions League odds for the match reflect that Liverpool are the firm favourites to get the victory they need next week.

With so many games coming up in December, manager Jurgen Klopp may be tempted to ring the changes for the match, but he will want to make sure of qualification.

If the surprisingly tactically astute Red Bull Salzburg win their game against Genk, they would have the opportunity of progressing at the Reds’ expense in the final group match in Austria if Klopp’s men lose to Napoli.

It means Liverpool will want to get things done and dusted at Anfield. If they can, the Merseysiders will be able to rest players against Salzburg, and considering they may have up to nine matches to play next month, that could be of vital importance especially with injuries beginning to effect members of Jurgen Klopp’s squad like Salah, Robertson and Henderson to name but a few.

Predicted Score – 3-1 to Liverpool
