Liverpool V Newcastle Match Preview And Predicted XI Plus Betting Odds

Liverpool will want to build on their 2-0 away win over Wolves on Friday and maintain their four-point lead over Manchester City when they face Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has some good news on the injury front with Trent Alexander-Arnold back fit. The 20-year-old has had to sit out the last two games against Manchester United and Wolves with a foot injury, but will likely replace James Milner at right-back.

Naby Keita is also expected to be ready to face the Magpies. The Guinean international suffered a few knocks on Friday evening and was taken off earlier on in the second half at Molineux, but it doesn’t seem that there was any permanent damage done.

Joe Gomez (fractured leg), Joel Matip (broken collarbone) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) remain out for the long term.

For Newcastle, manager Rafa Benitez has a few injury concerns heading into the game at Anfield. Defender Ciaran Clark is suffering from an ankle injury and is a major doubt for the Boxing Day clash. Jonjo Shelvey will be assessed ahead of the game as he is still recovering from a thigh strain.

Florian Lejeune (knee) and Karl Darlow (elbow) remain out of contention for the Magpies. Ki Sung-Yeung will also not be available as he is away on international duty with South Korea.

At the bookies, Liverpool are heavy favourites with the Reds 1/6 with Sky Bet. A draw is best priced at 15/2 with Bet365 while a Newcastle victory is currently 22/1 at Coral.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Newcastle:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Shaqiri, Salah, Firmino, Mane

Newcastle’s Predicted XI:

Dubravka, Manquillo, Schar, Lascelles , Dummett, Ritchie, Hayden, Diame, Perez, Rondon, Kenedy

Predicted Score – 2-0 to Liverpool
