Liverpool V Southampton – Match Preview And Predicted XI

Liverpool V Southampton – Match Preview And Predicted XI

Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 win against PSG in the Champions League means they head into Saturday’s game against Southampton off the back of six straight victories in all competitions.

Roberto Firmino came off the bench to score the winner in injury time despite having sustained an eye injury just a few days before in the 2-1 victory over Tottenham.

The Brazilian has since been pictured training in goggles which suggests he should be fit to face the Saints this weekend.

However, with a doubleheader against Chelsea coming up, the Reds may opt to make some changes with Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri possibly getting their first starts for the club.

Manager Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have any new injury concerns. Liverpool are still without Adam Lallana (groin) while Dejan Lovren (pelvis) has returned to training but isn’t match fit. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) is the only long-term absentee, but his recovery is progressing well.

The England international has passed a milestone of sorts in his rehabilitation. He is able to kick a ball again, but his return to fitness is still many months away.

For Southampton, Danny Ings won’t be able to play against his parent club. The 26-year-old is on loan until the end of the season before he signs permanently for the South Coast club. His potential replacement Manolo Gabbiadini is also a doubt for the match with a hamstring injury.

Here’s how we think Liverpool will line up against Southampton:

Alisson

Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson

Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Keita,

Shaqiri, Sturridge, Mane

Predicted Score – Liverpool 2-0
