Liverpool ‘Very Interested’ In Snapping Up Ligue One Midfield Maestro But Club Are Holding Out For £44m

Liverpool are “very interested” in signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to RMC Sport. It is believed the Reds have not made any direct contact about the player but they are monitoring his situation.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are one of four clubs who are keen on the France Under 21 international, with the likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus also tracking the 21-year-old.

Currently, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is sticking to his guns with his €50m (£44m) valuation of Aouar, but the French club are under pressure to sell players.

The curtailment of the Ligue One season meant that Lyon did not qualify for Europe, either for the Champions League or the Europa League.

It means there is a shortfall in their budget, with the likes of Aouar and Moussa Dembele being made available for transfer. However, due to the current financial climate, they may have to lower their demands in order to offload players this summer.
