Goalkeeper and Defence
GK – Giorgi Mamardashvili – you can’t help but think that Alisson would have saved some of the goals that the Georgian has conceded in recent games, most notably Bryan Mbeumo’s opener for Manchester United and Kevin Schade’s second goal for Brentford.
RB – Joe Gomez – Frimpong’s injury and Conor Bradley’s form may force Slot to select the 28-year-old. He is not the long-term solution but he may give the Reds’ defence some added protection.
CB – Ibrahima Konate – the centre-back’s head seems to be somewhere else other than Liverpool at the moment. You do feel that his performances are being affected by his contract situation.
CB – Virgil van Dijk – the captain is failing to inspire his troops. That has to change.
LB – Andy Robertson – Milos Kerkez is like a rabbit in the headlights at the moment. His confidence is low and he should be dropped for his own sake. Robertson’s experience should help to strengthen the back four.
