Arne Slot’s Liverpool face a tricky test on Wednesday night as they take a trip to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton.
The Reds come off the back of a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League which dropped Liverpool behind Manchester City as they now sit second in the league table.
However, they won their eight previous games before the Arsenal draw and are flying under new boss Arne Slot. They will be wanting to beat Brighton and make it to the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
They face a Brighton team who are unbeaten in their last three matches picking up wins against Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur, but their last game was a draw against relegation-battling Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Liverpool will be without Alisson, Harvey Elliot, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa, but Conor Bradley is expected to be back for the game which will provide a boost in defence. Click here to see our predicted XI for Arne Slot’s team as they prepare for Brighton.
Liverpool cautiously backed to beat the Seagulls
The Reds won’t find it easy against a Brighton side who sit sixth in the Premier League and six points behind Liverpool. They are backed by the bookmakers to win at the Amex, but not convincingly.
According to Oddschecker, Liverpool are backed at 5/4 odds to win which gives them a 44.4% chance of progressing to the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
Brighton are backed to win at odds of 47/20 (29.9%) and a draw is backed at 11/4 (26.7%) meaning the game would go to penalties.
We predict a 3-2 win for Liverpool in what could be a goal-heavy game at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday night.
