Arne Slot is preparing for his first competitive game as Liverpool manager as the Reds face Premier League new boys Ipswich at Portman Road.
The Reds are yet to make a signing this summer but will be keen to hit the ground running as they look to mount a title charge in the post-Klopp era.
They come off the back of a 0-0 draw to Spanish side Las Palmas in their final pre-season game last weekend where they had 16 shots compared to their opposition’s six.
Despite this, the Reds could only get six on target and will be hoping for better in front of goal as they prepare to face Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town.
Whilst Liverpool is close to their first signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvilli, Arne Slot will turn his attention to their opening game which kicks off at 12:30 pm on Saturday 17 August.
It will be available to watch on BT Sport and BT Sport Ultimate.
Liverpool heavy favourites despite quiet transfer window
The Reds are heavily favoured on Saturday according to the odds despite being the only Premier League team not to make a signing so far.
Arne Slot’s side are backed at 4/11 to win according to Oddschecker, with Ipswich at 8/1 and a draw at 49/10. This gives Liverpool over a 73% chance of an opening day win and three points in Slot’s first game.
They had to wait until their second game of the season for their first win last year as the opening day saw Liverpool draw 1-1 with Chelsea who face Manchester City on Sunday.
With the odds heavily in favour of Liverpool, we are predicting a 3-1 win for them at Portman Road against a tough battling Ipswich team who will lack quality compared to their opponents.
