Liverpool want Colombian youngster to bolster defence

Liverpool are set to sign Colombian youngster Anderson Arroyo before the end of the month as Jurgen Klopp looks to make some last minute additions to his squad.

The Reds looked to have done all their business after having completed the high profile signing of £75 million man Virgil Van Dijk.

However Klopp is thought to be keen to further bolster his defence before the end of the month, and will now turn to Arroyo.

The 18-year-old, who plays in his second-tier homeland for Fortaleza FC, has been featuring for Spanish side Mallorca on trial, and is understood to have impressed Liverpool with his mature performances.

He has also been a regular for the Colombian U17 and U20s, making 16 appearances in total for the youth ranks of his national side.

Liverpool however face a problem in obtaining a work permit for Arroyo, with the Colombian not yet registered enough football in Europe.

Due to this, should Liverpool wish to complete the signing of the Mallorca trialist before the month concludes, they are likely to allow him to remain in Spain until the end of the season.
