Liverpool Weigh Up Double Swoop As They Eye Argentine Assist Maker And Robertson Backup

Liverpool are considering a move for two Norwich City players, according to The Athletic. The website claims the Reds are keeping close tabs on left-back Jamal Lewis and his teammate Emiliano Buendia.

The Merseyside club’s interest in Lewis will not be a surprise with Jurgen Klopp needing to find a backup for Andy Robertson. The Canaries fullback is only 21 years of age but he has six caps for Northern Ireland and would provide decent competition on the left-hand side of defence.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Buendia, however, is more intriguing. The Argentine has seven assists in 21 appearances for Norwich this season and has been in red hot form in recent weeks.

The 23-year-old generally plays off the right flank and could well be a replacement for Xherdan Shaqiri if the Swiss international opts to leave Anfield in the summer.

Bids for Lewis and Buendia are not believed to be imminent, though, with the two Canaries’ players likely to be targeted at the end of the season rather than in the January transfer window.
