Liverpool Weigh Up Move For England International Shot Stopper

Liverpool have been considering a bid for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, according to reports in the English media.

The Reds are keen to keep Simon Mignolet as the club’s number two but they have been weighing up their options if the Belgian looks to force a move away from Anfield.

Heaton is one of two names on the club’s list of replacements, along with former player Pepe Reina.

The England international is 33 years of age and his contract expires next summer, which means he would be available relatively cheaply.

Heaton was not Burnley’s number one at the start of last season after the Clarets signed Joe Hart from Manchester City.

He did, however, regain his place before the turn of the year, and started every single match in the second half of the campaign, captaining the side as the club secured a 15th place finish in the table, six points above the relegation places.
