Liverpool Weighing Up Shock Free Transfer Move For 34 Cap International After Wijnaldum’s Recommendation

Liverpool will consider signing former Newcastle and Watford right-back Daryl Janmaat to strengthen their options at the back, according to reports in the English media.

The Dutchman, who has 34 caps for his country, is currently available on a free transfer after leaving the Hornets at the end of last season and, crucially, can be snapped up outside of the transfer window.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to miss the next month of action with a calf problem, it believed the Reds are looking for more experienced options, with Neco Williams their only other right-back in the squad.

Janmaat has been recommended by international teammate Georginio Wijnaldum, who has also played alongside him at Newcastle, but there is one major issue in signing the player.

The 31-year-old spent most of last season sidelined with a knee problem and, while he is fully fit now, it would be a concern, considering it kept him out for the best part of eight months.
