Liverpool Weighing Up Swoop For £40M Rated Mount Alternative Who Is Also Being Targeted By Arsenal

Liverpool are considering whether to switch their attention away from Chelsea’s Mason Mount to Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus, according to FootballTransfers.com.

It has been revealed that Mount is now favouring a move to Manchester United and, with his club demanding as much as £85m, the Reds may target Kudus instead, who is said to be available for around £40m.

One problem is that the competition for the Ghanaian’s signature is expected to be equally fierce, with Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United all known to be keen admirers of the player.

Kudus can play in multiple positions, having played as a winger, no.10 and striker, but he is more of a goalscorer than Mount, having scored 18 goals in all competitions for Ajax this campaign.

Liverpool’s Transfer Budget Is Proving To Be A Limiting Factor

A pattern does appear to be emerging in the Reds’ transfer business this summer. After being priced out of a move for Jude Bellingham, they switched their attention to Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister.

From the look of things, it appears the same is happening with Mount and Kudus. Some may argue that they are not necessarily downgrading by going after alternatives but they are certainly not getting their top targets.
