Liverpool are willing to pay €75m (£67.5m) for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio, according to reports in Spain.
The Spaniard is not a player that the La Liga side are interested in selling at the moment, but they may consider a sale if they need to raise funds.
Asensio’s development has stalled over the past year, having scored just six goals and provided seven assists in 44 appearances last season.
Even so, Real boss Zinedine Zidane is not prepared to see the attacking midfielder sold to a direct rival without getting someone in return.
It is believed the Frenchman would only sanction a move if Sadio Mane comes in the other direction. He is a big fan of the Senegalese international and would be keen to see the forward make the switch to the Bernabeu.
However, Liverpool would be very unlikely to accept such a swap deal so their interest in Asensio is unlikely to be followed up with a concrete bid.
