Liverpool Winger Demoted From First Team To Under 23s

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic will no longer be training with the club’s first team after being demoted to the Under 23s, according to reports from Merseyside.

The Serbian’s £2.9m move to Anderlecht collapsed at the end of last month and while most players who were not involved in internationals were given time off last week, the Serbian was sent to train at the Academy.

Markovic even played a behind closed doors friendly against Crewe Alexandra for the Under 23s with the League Two side’s manager David Artell impressed by what he saw from the 24-year-old.

Reports from Italy suggest a move to Anderlecht could be revived in January, but it’s likely he’ll leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.

Until then, it seems he will be playing with Neil Critchley’s Under 23 side after being omitted from both the Premier League and Champions League squads by Jurgen Klopp.
