Liverpool’s defeat to Chelsea shouldn’t tarnish what’s been an otherwise brilliant start to the season

Chelsea ended Liverpool’s perfect start to the season last night with their 2-1 victory at Anfield.

Goals from Emerson Palmeiri and Eden Hazard sank the Reds to their first defeat of the season in all competitions, and saw them crash out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle.

But in no way should the defeat serve as a reflection as to what is to come over the coming months.

Jurgen Klopp will want silverware this season, so it’s easy to question why he fielded a much changed side for the clash given that the League Cup is perhaps the most realistic target. Still you have to like Klopp’s chances of winning a trophy and you can take advantage of the best bonus codes for betting if you want to have a bet on the Reds winning any of the competitions they are still in.

But the German will have been wary of facing the Blues again on Saturday and more so of an upcoming difficult run of fixtures. Liverpool also face Napoli and Manchester City before the end of October, and Arsenal just a few days into November.

With the perfect start to the Premier League season still in tact, and having enjoyed a brilliant start to the Champions League campaign with victory over PSG – it could just be that Klopp simply has his eyes on a bigger prize.

Expect the Reds to travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend and emerge with all three points.
