Jordan Henderson

James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson in training

The Liverpool captain has not always been a fan favourite, with many having advocated that he be benched for the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita in the past.

But, as Robertson has so eloquently stated, Henderson is the glue that keeps this Reds machine going. He drives the team forward with his demands to maintain the highest standards.

When asked to move positions in the absence of Fabinho, he was more than able to fill in, and while his statistics won’t stand out compared to his teammates, he brings a mental strength and resilience to the squad which can’t easily be quantified. Is it enough to be given the player of the award? We shall have to wait and see.
