Lyon president denies Liverpool-Fekir rumours

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has denied that Liverpool have contact over the transfer of forward Nabil Fekir.

It was reported last month that the Reds had agreed a £60 million deal to bring the France international to Anfield this summer, with their being only personal terms to agree to complete the move.

Aulas however says any such reports are false.

“There has been no contact at all with Liverpool, nor with any other club,” Aulas told SFR. “I haven’t talked about his future with him at all.

“Nabil also really wants to stay after qualifying [for the Champions League]. We’re going to talk it through calmly. For the moment, nothing has been decided.”

Fekir scored 23 goals in 40 appearances last season for Lyon, attracting attention from a host of Europe’s biggest clubs.

As well as Liverpool, Barcelona, Chelsea and Arsenal are all understood to be interested in taking on the 24-year-old – who will travel to Russia for the World Cup this summer as part of Didier Deschamp’s France squad.

Any prospective party will have to have deep pockets to lure Fekir away from Lyon however insists Aulas, who is keen to hold on to his most prized asset ahead of next season.

He concluded: “You’ll have to be very rich to recruit Nabil Fekir this year.”
