Manager Hails “Exciting Young Talent” As Liverpool Confirm Signing Of 20 Year Old Midfielder

Liverpool Women’s manager Matt Beard says he is delighted that the Reds have managed to secure the signature of Fortuna Hjorring midfielder Sofie Lundgaard.

The 20-year-old is yet to make her senior debut for Denmark, but she has already made over 100 senior club appearances in her fledgling career and Beard believes the Merseysiders have signed a player with massive potential:

“Sofie is an exciting young talent who we’ve been monitoring for the past six months or so. We’ve been really impressed with her progress so far and are looking forward to seeing how that continues in the future.”

Lundgaard has been capped at youth level by her country, playing for the Under 15s, Under 17s and Under 19s, with Liverpool hoping she kicks on to develop into a top-class midfield player.

The Dane is the Reds’ second signing during the January transfer window with the club having already recruited former captain Gemma Bonner, who returned to Anfield after joining from Racing Louisville FC.

Liverpool resume their Women’s Super League campaign when they face Manchester United away from home on Sunday. We shall see if either Lundgaard or Bonner are picked to start the match.
