Mane And Keita Both Encourage German Ace To Seal Summer Switch To Liverpool

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane and midfielder Naby Keita have both said they would be keen for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner to move to Anfield in the summer.

The German international has been linked with the Reds, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and a number of other clubs, and when asked about the 22-year-old, Mane said:

“I’d advise him to join Liverpool. I like his style of play. Very forceful, good finish, always giving it 100 per cent. If he wants to join us, we’d welcome him to our team.”

Werner’s current deal with Leipzig expires in 2020 with the Bundesliga club’s officials effectively giving the forward an ultimatum about signing a new contract or leaving in the summer.

His former teammate Keita, who joined Liverpool from Leipzig for £52.75m in July, would also like to see the forward move to Merseyside:

“We played very well together in Leipzig, and he was one of my best friends there. It’s clear: If he’ll be on the move, I ask Timo to join us here at Liverpool.”

Whether Werner does move to Anfield, it remains to be seen. The Reds will be after a new striker with Daniel Sturridge’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

The German has scored 13 goals and contributed three assists in 24 appearances for his club so far this campaign.
