Mane wins PFA Player of the Month

Sadio Mane has won the PFA’s Player of the Month award for August.

The Senegal international has had a blistering start to the season, scoring four goals in as many games to help Liverpool to an unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Mane scored twice on the opening weekend in a 4-0 win over West Ham United, before finding the net against Crystal Palace a week later – finishing off a fine counter attack in the dying moment at Selhurst Park.

The former Southampton man was again on target this weekend as Liverpool edged past Leicester 2-1.

Mane was the overwhelming winner for the award, which is voted for by fans, securing an impressive 58% of the votes.

He finished ahead of Cardiff City’s Neil Etheridge and Watford’s Roberto Pereyra, as well as Sergio Aguero (Manchester City), Lucas Moura (Tottenham Hotspur) and Benjamin Mendy (City).

This is the second season running Mane has been awarded the award for opening month of the season, having scooped the prize last season as well following a three goal haul.
