Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be looking for an improved performance against Manchester United this weekend after some worrying recent results.
A lot of the talk before the derby has been centred around the fitness of Joel Matip and, from Klopp’s press conference on Friday, it seems the centre-back is likely to be available. The 29-year-old could make up the back four alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Andy Robertson, with Alisson Becker in goal.
In midfield, Thiago is expected to be given his second league start in a row, with the Spaniard playing in the holding midfield role behind captain Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Xherdan Shaqiri’s excellent recent cameos off the bench have prompted some pundits to tip the Swiss international for a start on Sunday, but Klopp is likely to go with his tried and tested front three of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Manchester United:
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson, Henderson, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane
