Matip Starts, Wijnaldum Benched: Liverpool’s Predicted Starting XI To Face Burnley

Liverpool’s lack of goals in recent games is a major concern for manager Jurgen Klopp and their opponent’s tonight, Burnley, won’t make things easy for them either.

With that in mind, the Reds may opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation in order to give them extra bodies going forward and increase their chances of breaking the deadlock.

Joel Matip is back in full training so the 29-year-old will likely partner Fabinho in the centre of defence, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson on the flanks. Alisson Becker will start in goal.

In midfield, captain Jordan Henderson will move further up the pitch to accommodate Matip, and he could partner Thiago as one of the two holding midfielders. The question will be, then, who will make way between Georginio Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri?

With the Swiss international being a more creative player, we could see Wijnaldum named on the bench. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah will again make up the front three.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Burnley:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson, Henderson, Shaqiri, Thiago, Salah, Firmino, Mane
