Matthijs De Ligt’s Transfer Stance Revealed As Liverpool Consider The Idea Of Partnering Him With Van Dijk

Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt is in “no hurry” to decide his future, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claim that Liverpool are weighing up a bid for the Dutchman, with the intention of partnering him with his international teammate Virgil van Dijk.

However, de Ligt still has two years remaining on his contract at Juve and, even though negotiations over an extension have stalled, the centre-back is still pondering his next move.

Calciomercato report that Chelsea are also in the mix to sign the 22-year-old, while other reports in Italy have credited Manchester United and Manchester City with an interest too.

A possible Liverpool offer is likely to be dependent on de Ligt’s release clause being lowered. It currently stands at €125m (£108m) and will rise to €140m (£121m), but the defender will only sign a contract extension if it’s lowered to around €80m (£69m). Were that to happen, the Netherlands international would then become a realistic target for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
