McMahon Calls On Klopp To Sign £80m Rated Talent Who Would Slot Straight Into Liverpool’s Midfield

Former Liverpool star Steve McMahon has backed his former club to sign Leicester’s James Maddison. The midfielder scored against the Reds last weekend and has been in excellent form for the Foxes so far this season.

The likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and even Real Madrid have reportedly been monitoring the 22-year-old’s progress, along with the Reds, and McMahon believes he would be perfect for manager Jurgen Klopp:

“He’s young, he’s English. If I’m Klopp, I would be looking at him. He’s got a lot going for him. He changes the tempo of the game. There is a place for him. I see no reason why he wouldn’t fit in.”

Maddison’s asking price is reported to be around £80m, and it would be a big surprise if Liverpool were actually weighing up a move for the playmaker, considering the number of midfielders already in the squad.

In addition to Klopp’s favoured trio: Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum, the Reds boss can also call upon James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Adam Lallana.

With Lallana and Milner having contracts that expire next June, there could be a case for signing Maddison in the summer but we shall have to wait and see.
