McManaman Warns Liverpool Against Move For £30m Rated Winger

Former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman has questioned Liverpool’s interest in Norwich winger Todd Cantwell.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a £30m switch to Anfield in recent days but McManaman doesn’t believe the Canaries star currently has what it takes to play for the Reds:

“I don’t think he’s done enough yet to warrant playing at that level I get the fact that he wants to play at a higher level. I get the fact that he thinks he’s playing well in a struggling Norwich team. That’s completely understandable.”

“It would surprise me if Liverpool were very interested in him, considering the younger kids Liverpool have in and around the squad at that under-23 level.”

It is claimed that Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham have all taken a look at Cantwell ahead of a possible summer bid for the England Under 21 international.

The midfielder has reportedly impressed the Merseyside club’s coaching staff in both of Norwich’s games against the Premier League leaders this campaign.

However, as McManaman says, Cantwell does lack experience. He has made just 65 senior appearances in his career, with only 26 of those games being in the top flight.

The Norwich star is not the only winger to have been linked with Liverpool over the past week, with Werder Bremen star Milot Rashica also believed to be on the club’s radar.
