Merseyside derby match preview! Liverpool vs Everton predicted XI’s and latest injury news

Liverpool take on Everton on Sunday in what promises to be a fiery clash between the Merseyside rivals.

Liverpool head into the game off the back of a 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow in the Champions League, whereas Everton will also be confident after winning their last two league fixtures.

The Reds find themselves 14 points off league leaders Manchester City, but look fairly comfortable in the race for the top 4. After a dismal start to the season, Everton sit 10th and look like they have turned a corner in their season.

Liverpool have their share of injuries going into the game. Marko Grujic is unavailable after fracturing his finger, while Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne will also miss out with respective muscle and back injuries.

Joe Gomez had recently suffered from illness, but should be available in time for the game. Adam Bogdan remains out with an ACL knee injury.

Alberto Moreno is also doubtful for the game after sustaining an injury in Wednesday’s Champions League win over Spartak Moscow.

Everton have also been hit hard by injuries.

L Baines remains out with a calf strain, along with goalkeeper Steklenburg who is out with a groin strain.

Long term absentees Ross Barkley, Funes Mori, Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie are all expected to be out until at least 2018.

James McCarthy could return in time from his hamstring injury.
