Michael Owen Predicts A “Cagey Affair” As Liverpool Take On Chelsea

TV pundit Michael Owen does not think that there will be much between the two sides when Liverpool face Chelsea in the FA Cup this evening.

The former England international says the fact that there are no longer replays in the fifth round of the competition will mean it will be a tight contest at Stamford Bridge:

“Since there are no replays at this stage of the competition, I see this being a tight, cagey affair. However, much will depend on the side Jurgen Klopp decides to put out, although as both Shrewsbury and Everton can attest to, even a more youthful Reds side will take some stopping.”

Owen does not make a score prediction but he does expect it to be a low scoring game, hinting that extra time may well come into play.

Of course, a lot will depend on what side manager Jurgen Klopp chooses to put out tonight. As Owen mentions, the Liverpool boss fielded very youthful sides in the last two rounds of the competition but he has suggested that he will pick a stronger eleven.

Harvey Elliott won’t play as he will feature in the UEFA Youth League game against Benfica today, but Neco Williams and Ki-Jana Hoever will be in the squad.
