Michael Owen Predicts The Result As Liverpool Take On Arsenal

Ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen is expecting his former club to come out on top when they face Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Gunners are in good form, having not lost any of their last ten matches in all competitions, but Owen still feels they can be got at defensively:

“That’s now three wins in a row for Arsenal and just one goal conceded in that time. This will be a major test of where they are though. I fancy Liverpool to get back to winning ways here. I can see Arsenal scoring but I don’t trust their defence.”

Owen has gone with a 3-1 win to Liverpool. While it is certainly very possible that Jurgen Klopp’s side could score a few due to their own attacking qualities, it’s not accurate to paint Arsenal as vulnerable at the back.

They may have conceded 13 goals in 11 Premier League matches, but nine of those came in the first three matches, meaning they have considerably tightened up defensively since the opening weeks of the campaign.

This is very unlikely to be an open affair, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta expected to play on the counter-attack, like he did in the 2-0 win against Leicester before the international break. Liverpool remain favourites to get the three points but it won’t be as straightforward as Owen makes out.
