Mo Salah Names Who He Believes Is “The Best Player In The World”

Liverpool forward Mo Salah insists he is the best player in the world despite being named in seventh place for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The Egyptian international claims that he isn’t that bothered about whether he wins the coveted individual award in the future (or for that matter, FIFA’s equivalent prize) but he strongly believes in his own ability:

“At the end of the day it’s people’s opinions, but in my mind, I’m the best player in the world, that’s what I say to myself. I can’t say that I don’t want to win the Ballon d’Or or FIFA’s The Best, of course, I want to win either of them. But if I don’t win either of them, there is no problem. Everything I want, I usually get. I know that I will win either of them later, I’m not worried.”

Lionel Messi won his record seventh Ballon d’Or at the awards ceremony late last month, with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in second and Chelsea’s Jorginho in third.

The FIFA Best Awards will take place in January next year. Salah has been nominated for the Best Men’s Player, along with the likes of Messi, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Lewandowski, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Paris Saint-Germain pair Kylian Mbappe & Neymar, Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

The public can still vote for their favourite by heading to FIFA’s website here and signing up. The polls close on December 10th.
