Mohamed Salah signs new long-term deal at Liverpool!

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 26-year-old Egypt international has put pen to paper to a new five-year-deal, running until 2023 and does not contain a release clause.

Salah joined Liverpool for £34m from Roma last summer and was one of the brightest stars in Europe over the course of the season, scoring 44 goals in 52 appearances – winning the Premier League Golden Boot, Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards.

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the Champions League final, it had been heavily rumoured that Salah could be targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer. However, after news of a new deal being struck it seems the forward is sticking with Anfield for the long haul.

Speaking about the new deal for Salah, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: “It demonstrates two things very clearly – his belief in Liverpool and our belief in him.

“I think this news can be seen for what it is; rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season.

“We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions – we are working hard together to achieve this.

“When someone like Mo Salah commits and says this place is my home now, it speaks very loudly I think.

“Equally, our commitment to him says we see his value and want him to grow even more and get even better within our environment.”
