Neil Jones Delivers Verdict On Whether Liverpool Will Pay 130M To Sign Key Summer Target

Liverpool won’t need to meet Borussia Dortmund’s £130m asking price for Jude Bellingham, according to Goal journalist Neil Jones.

Although a whole host of teams (including Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid) are interested in the teenager, Jones feels Dortmund are a selling club and will look to offload Bellingham for a fee below his current valuation:

“They will always sell, so I think it’s just a case of they’ll try and get the best deal, but I expect he’s going to go somewhere next summer. He’s the next one on the rank, isn’t he? From Sancho to Haaland to him. Before that from Götze and Lewandowski, those kind of guys. I’m not sure Liverpool are paying £130 million, but I’m not sure anyone else is either.”

Jones does, however, mention that the impending World Cup could well complicate matters. If Bellingham rips things up in Qatar and becomes the breakout star of the tournament, there is a danger that his price tag could skyrocket.

Considering many pundits and fans alike feel the 19-year-old is a generational talent, it was always likely that he would cost an arm and a leg to sign anyway.

Liverpool will surely have to break their transfer record if they want Bellingham and we shall have to wait and see whether the club’s owners will back such a hefty outlay on one player.
