Liverpool are willing to trigger Barcelona midfielder Gavi’s €50m (£41.8m) release clause, according to reports in the Catalan media.
The 17-year-old is a player in demand, with Chelsea and Manchester United also said to be keen on the player, while Barca are also looking to tie down the player to a new contract, increasing his buyout fee in the process.
Supporters on Twitter are sceptical about the story, with many questioning whether the Reds would pay that much to secure Gavi’s signature:

A new day, a new nonsense speculation.

Gavi is reportedly close to signing a contract extension which’ll make his release clause rocket up beyond our reach. As simple as that.

Most reputable sources suggest that Gavi is keen on staying at the Camp Nou with Barcelona in the final stages of agreeing an extension with the teenager.
However, the La Liga side’s financial situation means there are still doubts over whether that will happen. They haven’t been able to register new signing Ferran Torres so far due to wage budget limitations so we shall see whether they will find room for Gavi’s pay rise.
