There is now an “expectation” that Liverpool forward Mo Salah will sign a new contract with the Merseyside club, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The reliable former BBC reporter says that, while negotiations are not as advanced as some reports suggested last week, a compromise is now in reach.
Supporters on Twitter are delighted to hear that Salah could well stay at Anfield, but they are still keen to hear an official announcement as soon as possible:
Never in doubt.

As a fan, it's a really horrible wait. BUT let's be honest, where is he going to go??? PSG, not a chance. Barcelona car afford him and Real Madrid are looking else where. He won't go to City.
Also he must be just about the richest dude in his country anyway lol…

It is believed that talks have restarted in recent weeks after being put on ice back in December when Salah reportedly rejected a £400,000 a week contract.
Salah and his representatives are now thought to be more open-minded about the original offer put on the table. Whether that is down to the realisation that there are no other clubs willing to break the bank for him, it isn’t clear, but whatever the case, it appears he could well be staying put.
