Neville On Why Liverpool Fans Are ‘Right To Be Annoyed’ About Title Questions

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes Liverpool supporters are justified in being irritated by those questioning the club’s title credentials.

However, the TV pundit believes Jurgen Klopp’s men will have to be bear the brunt of scrutiny until they finally win the Premier League title:

“The fans are right to be annoyed at calls that Liverpool are already bottling it and are feeling the pressure. However, that is the question they will keep facing.”

When you haven’t won a title and you drop points you face questions about pressure. When you’ve won a title or two and drop points then you face questions about complacency. That’s how it works.”

“However, it is a fair question. Liverpool were still underdogs up to Christmas and they got through January, but now it has become real for them and you can see it has had an impact.”

As Neville says, it’s all part of the title race. Question marks are always placed on the team that is going through a blip even if the slip-ups are relatively minor. Two draws is hardly a crisis but in the context of a title challenge, every mistake is magnified.

It has been nip and tuck between Liverpool and City all season and every twist and turn will be pounced on by pundits and fans to fill the airwaves with questions about the Reds’ title chances.

It’s now up to Jurgen Klopp’s side to stand up to the pressure from both City and the media if they want to stay top of the table.
