New Balance Look To ‘Break The Bank’ To See Off Nike In Battle For Liverpool Kit Deal

Liverpool’s current kit supplier New Balance are willing to “break the bank” to retain their contract with the Reds, according to French website Footmercato.

It has been widely reported in recent weeks that rival Nike are set to take over as the manufacturer of the club’s replica jerseys when New Balance’s current deal runs out at the end of the season.

Nike are said to be prepared to pay far in excess of the £45m a year that the Reds currently receive for their kit, but New Balance reportedly have a “preference clause” which means that if they match Nike’s bid, Liverpool will continue with their existing supplier.

It is believed that New Balance are very worried about losing brand awareness in Europe with the Reds their most high profile football club.

However it turns out, it seems like a win-win scenario for Liverpool who look to have two of the biggest kit manufacturers in the world fighting over them.
