New PL Rival Joins Liverpool In Battle To Sign 23m Rated Spanish Midfield Maestro

Arsenal are the latest club to register their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to reports in the English media.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with the Spanish international in recent weeks but they are reluctant to pay the player’s £23m asking price due to his age and salary demands.

They will be concerned, though, that the Gunners have entered the race for Thiago, although it is thought that the London club would have to sell at least two players to fund a move for the 29-year-old.

Lucas Torreira and Mohamed Elneny have been put up for sale but, so far, there have been no takers despite interest from Italy and Turkey.

At this stage, Thiago’s next club remains up in the air. Bayern have confirmed they are prepared to sell the midfielder this summer in order to prevent him from leaving for free next year when his contract expires.
