Liverpool will have to pick themselves up after a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League last night.

There would have been aspects of the performance that manager Jurgen Klopp would have been pleased about but the lack of an away goal makes it very unlikely that they’ll progress to the final.

The Reds will need to refocus for another very important match against Newcastle on Saturday night. The Magpies are now safe from relegation but they are in good form, with wins against Leicester and Southampton in recent games.

Naby Keita had to be substituted in the first half against Barcelona with a groin problem and is unlikely to be fit for the weekend. Adam Lallana could also be a doubt as the midfielder has been struggling with a muscular injury recently.

For Newcastle, manager Rafa Benitez could have captain Jamaal Lascelles back in contention after the defender missed the 1-1 draw against Brighton last week with a stomach bug.

In-form forward Ayoze Perez is a doubt for the game due to a hip problem. The Spaniard sustained the injury in a challenge with Seagulls defender Lewis Dunk and is now in a battle to be fit for Saturday.

Miguel Almiron is out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, while Florian Lejeune (knee) and Sean Longstaff (knee) are both out of contention.
