Liverpool are one of four clubs that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe would consider joining if he decides to leave the Parc des Princes this summer, according to reports in France.
Real Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus are believed to be the other options. The 22-year-old will have just one year remaining on his contract with PSG at the end of the season, but the Ligue One champions could try and hold out for as much as €200m (£173m) if they choose to sell him.
While fans on Twitter would dearly love to see Mbappe moving to Anfield, they accept that such a transfer fee would be well beyond the means of the Reds, unless a compromise could be reached:
We wouldn’t spend 30m on a defender we needed badly theres no chance we pay 200m for any man on earth

£200m and Liverpool in the same sentence ?????

Michael Edwards will get him with £1m up front, and £199m paid in £20m instalments each millennium

Liverpool could not afford that. Only Real & City.

Never ever, ever gonna pay him the sort of wages he’ll be wanting. And I don’t blame him, he’s gonna be the best in the world soon and look at what Messi is earning!

It must be said that most of the speculation regarding Liverpool and Mbappe have emanated from the French media over the past year. The English press have been far more reluctant to link the World Cup winner with the Reds.
Whether that increases the likelihood of a move happening, it is debatable. Mbappe’s representatives may simply be using the club’s name to get a better contract at PSG. Supporters will, though, be hoping there is some substance to the rumours.
