Ex-Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat is not a candidate to become Liverpool’s next sporting director, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

There has been some speculation in recent days that Mislintat was interested in linking up once again with Jurgen Klopp but Falk claims there is no truth to the stories:

Mislintat was Dortmund’s Chief Scout for most of Klopp’s time in charge of the Bundesliga club so it was not surprising that he was linked with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool post.

It has been confirmed that Julian Ward will leave the Reds at the end of the season just a year after officially taking over from Michael Edwards. With Head of Research Ian Graham also set to depart Anfield, there are big concerns about what is happening with the Reds’ recruitment department.

The club has been so successful with its transfer strategy over the past five to ten years and these changes are likely to have a serious impact on how it operates.
