‘Not A Target’ Journalist Writes Off Liverpool’s Chances Of Securing Deal For 77M Rated Champions League Winner

Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman is “not a target” for Liverpool this summer, according to The Athletic’s James Pearce.

Reports in Germany have repeatedly linked the 25-year-old, who scored the winner for Bayern in the 2020 Champions League final, with a move to England in recent weeks. The Reds, along with Chelsea and Manchester United, have been mentioned but Pearce is adamant that Coman is not being pursued by Jurgen Klopp’s side:

It is believed that Coman would cost at least €90m (£77m) anyway, which is well beyond Liverpool’s current transfer budget.

Sporting director Michael Edwards is keen to get some deadwood off the club’s books in order to generate funds, with the Merseyside club hopeful of raising over £50m by offloading the likes of Neco Williams, Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri.

With no sales having taken place so far, though, it seems any further incomings may only happen near the end of the transfer window in August.
