Liverpool are considering whether to make a bid for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, according to L’Equipe.
The French newspaper reports that the Citizens’ Champions League ban has led to the England international considering his future at the Etihad Stadium and he has delayed signing a new contract as a consequence.
Sterling left Anfield for City under controversial circumstances in 2015, and suffice to say fans on Twitter are not enthusiastic about his potential return:

I can’t see it happening, for a start his wages are stupidly higher than anybody in the current Liverpool squad secondly I can’t see Man City selling him back to us considering he is an outstanding performer for their team

Sometimes press reports leave you scratching your head. One the one hand, stories can be fed to the media if an agent wants to pressure a club into giving in to their demands for a new contract.
However, in this case, it does seem strange that a French media outlet would be used. L’Equipe are not the most reliable of newspapers, at the best of times, so whatever the basis for the story is, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt.
