“Nothing To Negotiate…” Club President Tells Liverpool And PL Rivals To Pay £35M Release Clause For Spanish Wonderkid

Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino says they will not sell Liverpool target Gabri Veiga unless a team triggers his €40m (£35m) release clause.

The Reds are believed to be among the Spanish midfielder’s suitors and, when asked about the player’s future, Mourino said:

“For us, and to make it clear, he is not for sale. We have nothing to negotiate with anyone. We refer to the clause… The decision is Gabri’s, he will play wherever he wants.”

Mourino confirmed that Real Madrid have not been in contact with Celta about Veiga but he has received enquiries from four clubs in the Premier League’s top 10.

Considering previous reports have linked Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle with the 20-year-old; they are likely to be the teams that Mourino is talking about.

Veiga scored his ninth goal of the season in Celta’s 3-1 win over Espanyol at the weekend, and his performances are only leading to increased speculation about his future.

Celta would like the midfielder to sign a contract extension, which would allow them to increase his buyout fee but, for the time being, he remains available for £35m.
