Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the top five leading contenders for the European Golden Boy Award.
Roma’s Justin Kluivert is currently leading the voting with Ajax’s Mathijs De Ligt and the Reds defender in the top three.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone make up the rest of the top five. Fans on Twitter are delighted by Alexander-Arnold’s inclusion:

35 journalists from across Europe’s top newspapers have until the end of the month to place their vote for the award. Previous winners include the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.
It wasn’t actually that long ago that a Liverpool player won the award. Raheem Sterling was given the distinction in 2014, following his rapid rise to prominence for the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold has had an incredible 18 months himself, having played in a Champions League final at the age of 19 and he is certainly fully deserving of the nomination.
