Ex-Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards has rejected a job offer from Chelsea, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The trusted journalist claims that the Blues had made a concerted effort to hire Edwards, who left his post at Anfield at the end of last season. However, despite being offered the chance for an immediate return to football, Edwards has decided to take some time out away from the limelight:

The 43-year-old has spent nearly 20 years in various positions, including Chief Analyst at Portsmouth and Tottenham, before moving on to become a key member of Liverpool’s recruitment team.
During his time as the Reds’ sporting director, Edwards recruited key players, including the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson and Andy Robertson; all of whom have gone on to have very successful careers at the club.
Edwards handed over the reins to his assistant Julian Ward earlier this summer, with the new transfer supremo having already masterminded the signing of Darwin Nunez.
