Liverpool will need to up their £9m bid for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi, according to reports. The Spanish club are said to be demanding around €12m (£10.8m) for the Algerian international.
Fans on Twitter have asked for the Reds to increase their offer by £1.8m in order to secure the 28-year-old’s signature:

Conveniently that would come to the same amount we sold Lovren for. Call me shocked.

I don't even want him but it's embarrassing how we don't wanna pay £2m more for a player that we want

FSG being stingy again. Also, they shouldn’t even be going for this player. They should be going for Kabak who will be Liverpool’s next generation defense along with Gomez and TAA.

It’s called a negotiation for a reason we don’t go in and pay what everyone asks for we would be skint. And everyone doubting the boss needs to have a look at some of the players he’s brought in #inKloppwetrust

Hahaha nope. Take it or leave. Got other players that we're scouting and better than him.

Most of the reports about Liverpool’s interest in Mandi are coming from Spain so it remains to be seen if the Merseyside club have actually made an offer for the centre-back.
However, it would make sense if the Reds were interested, considering his market value. With Jurgen Klopp’s side unlikely to spend much this summer, the money they received from Dejan Lovren’s sale could well be reinvested in his replacement.
Mandi would certainly not be a glamorous signing but the club have been very astute in signing centre-halves on the cheap in recent years, such as Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan.
